Stacey Smyczynski Social Worker at Caught Dreamin Therapy

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)

Stacey Smyczynski

My name is Stacey Smyczynski, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) with 30 years of experience in the field. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University and a Master’s degree from Michigan State University. Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, families, and geriatric individuals, across various settings such as homes, communities, hospitals, nursing homes/AFC homes, and academic environments.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals facing challenges related to anxiety, depression, parenting and family dynamics, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, career transitions, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, and major life changes. My therapeutic approach is strengths-based, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness practices.

I strive to foster a warm, nonjudgmental, and accepting environment, providing a strong foundation for an effective therapeutic relationship. My goal is to empower clients by helping them develop healthier coping mechanisms and thought patterns, allowing them to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence. I believe in a collaborative, team-based approach, where we work together to achieve the client’s personal goals in a safe and supportive space.

Currently, I work within the school system, where I am deeply passionate about supporting students and enhancing social-emotional learning. I am committed to fostering a more responsive and supportive educational environment to equip children with the social-emotional skills necessary for success both now and in the future.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, our three daughters, and our three beloved dogs—Murphy, Biggie Smalls, and Olive. Olive, a four-pound support dog, accompanies me to school, providing comfort and emotional support to students and staff. Additionally, I am a proud “Mimi” to two wonderful grandchildren and cherish time with my family. In my free time, I enjoy home improvement projects, creative pursuits, and traveling to both new destinations and cherished favorites.

I look forward to the opportunity to support and empower those who seek guidance on their journey to personal growth and well-being.
